What this advice is and isn’t
The guides here are written carefully and tested where possible. They are still general information about software that changes without warning.
Last updated: 2 September 2026.
General information only
Everything published on this site is offered for general understanding. It is not tailored to your machine, your organisation’s policies or your circumstances, and it should not be treated as a substitute for judgement about your own situation.
Browsers move; documentation lags
Much of what is described here — which browser captures audio from which source, where a checkbox sits in a dialog, what an operating system asks permission for — reflects behaviour at the time of writing. Vendors change these things between releases, sometimes quietly. If a step described in a guide no longer matches what you see, the browser has most likely moved on. Corrections are welcome.
Nothing here is legal advice
Several guides touch on recording other people, particularly during meetings. Those passages describe a widely shared expectation of courtesy and a common legal pattern; they are not a statement of law in your jurisdiction. Rules on recording conversations differ sharply between countries, and between states within a country, and can turn on details such as whether one party or every party must agree. Consult a qualified lawyer where the answer matters.
Nothing here is professional advice of any other kind
Guidance touching on employment policy, confidentiality obligations or the handling of sensitive material is similarly general. Your employer’s rules and your professional duties take precedence over anything written here.
Results are not guaranteed
Screen capture depends on a chain of things outside this site: your browser version, graphics drivers, operating system permissions, available memory and the behaviour of whatever you are recording. A procedure that works on one machine may not on another. Nothing on this site guarantees a successful recording, and no recording should be treated as reliable until you have played it back.
Software and services we name
Guides name specific browsers, meeting platforms and editing tools because vague advice would be useless. We have no relationship with any of them, receive nothing for the mention, and cannot answer for how they behave. Their own documentation is authoritative where ours disagrees.
External links
Where a page points somewhere else, that destination is outside our control and its content is not ours. A link is not an endorsement.
Your recordings
Footage created with this tool stays on your device and is never transmitted to us, as the privacy page explains. One consequence deserves emphasis: if you lose a recording by closing the tab, we cannot recover it, because we never had it.
