About
A recorder that keeps out of the way
Most screen recorders want an account, an installer, or a plan. This one is a web page that uses a capability your browser already has, and stops there.
What it does
Records a screen, window or browser tab, optionally with your microphone and a webcam overlay. You preview the result and download it. That is the whole product.
What it deliberately does not do
There is no editor. Trimming or cropping in a browser means re-encoding the entire video at playback speed, which is slower than doing it in any desktop editor you already have. There is no account, because nothing needs to be associated with you. There is no cloud storage, because the recording never leaves your machine in the first place.
Why the privacy claim is checkable
Plenty of tools claim privacy. The useful thing about this one is that you can verify it in about thirty seconds: open your browser’s network panel and record something. Nothing sizeable is sent. Or switch the browser to offline mode after the page has loaded — recording, preview and download all still work, because none of them need a network.
A Content-Security-Policy header narrows the page’s reach to a single origin, which turns the guarantee from a promise into an enforcement: even a compromised script could not post your footage elsewhere, because the browser would refuse to carry it.
Limitations worth knowing
A web page cannot record a selected region of the desktop, cannot write to disk as it records, and cannot capture system audio on macOS. These are browser limits, not choices. The how it works page explains each one, and the guides cover the differences between browsers and platforms.
Cost
There is no charge, no trial and no upgrade. Serving a static page is cheap, and there is no per-user cost to recover because no recording ever touches a server.
Getting in touch
Questions, bug reports and licensing enquiries all go to contact@screen-recording-software.com. Bug reports are far easier to act on with a short screen recording attached, which this site happens to be good for.
