How this site makes money

At present, it doesn’t. That is unusual enough on the web to be worth stating plainly, along with what would appear on this page if it changed.

Last updated: 2 September 2026.

No advertising

No banners, no sponsored blocks, no promoted entries in the guide index. Ad networks work by profiling readers, which would sit badly beside a tool built so that nothing you record leaves your machine.

No affiliate arrangements

Guides recommend specific software — VLC for playing WebM, HandBrake and ffmpeg for converting it, OBS Studio for recordings too long to hold in memory. Not one of those mentions earns anything. They appear because they are the right answer, and they would be named identically if they paid nothing, which they do.

Nobody has paid for coverage

No company has paid, asked or otherwise arranged to be featured, ranked or described favourably here. Where a guide says Chrome handles something better than Firefox, that is an observation about the software, not a commercial arrangement.

No tracking to sell

There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel and no cookie on this site. Nothing about your visit is collected in a form that could be packaged or sold, which the privacy page sets out in detail.

What it costs to run

Very little. The site is static files on a host, and because recordings never reach a server there is no bandwidth or storage cost that scales with use. A hundred thousand recordings cost the same to serve as one.

If this changes

Should the site ever carry sponsorship, affiliate links or a paid tier, this page will say so before it happens rather than afterwards, and any commercial relationship will be marked at the point it appears — not buried here. The commitment that would not change is the one that matters: recordings stay on your device.
