How to record a Google Meet
Google Meet’s own recording feature needs a paid Workspace plan. Recording the tab instead works on any account, and captures both the video and the call audio.
Tell people first
Recording a call without telling the other people on it is unlawful in many places and unpleasant everywhere. Say so at the start, and let anyone object.
Recording the call
Join the meeting in one tab. Open the recorder in another. Press start, choose the Chrome Tab option, pick the Meet tab, and tick "Share tab audio" before confirming. That checkbox is what captures everyone’s voices.
Turn on your microphone in the recorder only if you also want your own voice recorded separately — the tab audio already includes what the call sends to your speakers.
Use Chrome or Edge
Firefox and Safari cannot capture tab audio, so a Meet recording made in those browsers will be silent. Chrome and Edge both handle it.
