How to record a Zoom meeting
Zoom only lets the host record, or a participant the host grants permission to. For a long session, read recording a webinar first. Recording the browser client sidesteps that — with the same obligation to tell people.
Join in the browser
On the Zoom join screen choose "Join from your browser" rather than opening the desktop app. A web page can only capture a browser tab, so this step is essential.
Record the tab
Open the recorder in a second tab and press start. When the picker appears, switch to its tab list, highlight the Zoom call, and turn on the audio checkbox before confirming. Capture begins as soon as you do.
If you must use the desktop app
Record the whole screen instead of a tab. On Windows, tick "Share system audio" to capture the call. On macOS this will not work — there is no way for a browser to hear another application, so use your microphone or Zoom’s own recording.
