How to record a Microsoft Teams meeting
Many organisations disable Teams recording by policy. Capturing the browser tab is a workable alternative, though your workplace rules may still apply to the resulting file.
Check the rules first
Recording being technically possible does not make it permitted. If your employer has switched recording off deliberately, ask before working around it.
Recording the call
Sign in to Teams on the web using Chrome or Edge rather than the desktop client. Begin a recording, point the picker at the Teams tab, and make sure audio sharing is enabled before you accept.
A Teams-specific catch
Teams sometimes moves screen-share content into a separate window rather than the tab. If a participant shares their screen and it disappears from your recording, switch to whole-screen capture instead, or record that window directly.
Teams also mutes its own audio output briefly when switching speakers, which can appear as a gap in the recording. Nothing is wrong with the file; the source went quiet.
